Codicil
A Codicil is a document that enables you to make small changes an existing Will. For instance, you may have a new grandchild that you want to make provision for in your Will. You can fill out and sign a Codicil to detail what the new family member will receive on your death. In essence, a Codicil functions as a supplementary page to your existing Will. The Codicil must be signed, witnessed and dated to ensure it is legally enforceable alongside your existing Will.
It is possible to add several Codicils to your existing Will to add or remove certain provisions in your Will. If you have a lot of changes to make to your Will it is advisable to create a new Will to ensure your wishes are enforced after you have passed away. Codicils are a very cost effective method of managing your Will.
Using our Codicil Template
We provide a Codicil template that can be downloaded to your for future re-use as many times as needed. The Codicil can be used for several small changes but when too many Codicils have been made or for large changes, you will need to redraft your Will. The document template has been crated by a specialist solicitor to ensure that it is concise, legally enforceable, and includes all the necessary information.
The template is fully customisable and you have the option of changing anything in the document that you need to. Simply enter your information where prompted, save, print and sign. You must also make sure that the Codicil is witnessed in the same way that a Will must be.
