Trademark Assignment Template
When transferring a registered trademark it is necessary to enter into a written agreement to document the terms of the transfer. When you apply to the Intellectual Property Office (“IPO”) to register the change in ownership, you will need to enclose a copy of the signed Trademark Assignment Agreement as evidence of the transfer. When you notify the IPO, you must do so using form TM16. This form is available from the Trademark Forms page on the IPO Website. If the IPO is not notified of the transfer, then the new trademark owner will not be recorded as the registered owner and will not be able to take advantage of the rights conferred by registration of the trade mark.
