Intellectual Property
Intellectual property means the legal property rights that a person has over a creation whether it is in art, commercial business, or law. By law the intellectual property rights provide exclusive rights to the individuals regarding a variety of topics. This could mean music, literary works, ideas, discoveries, inventions, words, phrases, symbols, etc. The most common type of intellectual property is copyrights, trademarks, patents, design rights, trade secrets, and industrial rights. The idea of the intellectual property rights is to grant a temporary monopoly on an idea or other form of intellect. There are certain legal requirements for intellectual property. These legal rights will be outlined in a number of different intellectual property documents. We have a list of these documents below:
• Contract checklist

Intellectual Property Documents
We have not listed every legal document regarding intellectual property above. However, we have given you a good idea of the legal documents you will find. Let’s take a look at a few of the documents we have mentioned. Most of the documents have something to do with copyrights. For example a notice of infringement of copyrighted work can be essential. The notice gives the person breaking the law notice that legal action will be taken if they do not desist in using the copyrighted work.
In a business employees may come up with ideas to help you grow. These ideas by rights can be theirs if you do not have a policy that outlines your employee options. For example if an employee has brainstormed an idea, but you have a policy in place regarding who owns the invention your business can actually keep the invention private. In other words whatever has been invented for the company is usually, under the intellectual policy, the business’ property and not the employees. The legal documents the employee signs when they begin working with you outlines this.
Photocopying infringement can be another issue. A person may need to use resources in a business or document. These resources, as long as they are properly sited can be used. Still there are copyright compliance documents which state exactly how the photocopies can be used or distributed. All of the intellectual property legal documents give you the rights you must follow. In certain instances these documents can be an agreement between two parties for works to be used. In this type of case both parties are covered under law, and if a breach of contract occurs there are legal ramifications that can be met. The forms on this site help you prove your legal agreement regarding intellectual property.
