Patent Confidentiality Letter

The Patent Confidentiality Letter is designed for use when making an application for a patent. If you need to disclose confidential information or have another party disclosing confidential information to you  in relation to an application for a patent, the Patent Confidentiality Letter will ensure that the information remains confidential so that the application for the patent is not jeapordised.

The need for confidentiality when registering a patent often comes when you need to generate interest or backing from a third party to assist with the patent application. For example, the Patent Confidentiality Letter can be used when an investor wants to assist you but they are not willing to take the patent on trust. They require information regarding the patent and the product you are going to be making. A Patent Confidentiality Letter would disclose the required details to the investor whilst ensuring that they do not disclose the information contained within the letter to another. This means that you are able to disclose information knowing that it is in the strictest of confidence, so that it cannot be abused or used by another. It can be a costly process to prosecute someone who has leaked confidential information.
